ABOUT US
City 6 Strings & Toon Ukes have been going as guitar & ukulele community music classes for nearly a decade, based in Newcastle City Centre. What started as an 'older people's day' taster session, resulted in weekly classes for years to come. The groups have gone from strength to strength. Many members start out as complete beginners who don't know how to play an instrument and don't know anyone else in the class. It is wonderful to see them become gigging musicians and make good supportive friends within the group, who meet early for coffee!
The groups are small and friendly, and it is a highlight of everyone's week! All levels are welcome and new people can come along at any time throughout the year. There is no pressure or expectations. It is very much a laid back 'do what you can' and 'strength in numbers' approach!
That being said, we must sound alright. We get asked to perform at various events such as ukulele festivals, care homes and culture hubs. We also enjoy going to the recording studio to record our favourite tracks of the year.
